FuriouSim unlocks phones
The new FuriouSim from the Furious Team is making locking mobile phones a thing of the past, says Fox Business.
The FuriouSim is the first DIY plug-and-play card on the market to allow mobile callers to unlock mobile phones without risking irreparable damage.
With the FuriouSim, callers can use their personal SIM card to bypass the locking mechanism in any mobile phone, and because the FuriouSim doesn't change anything inside the phone there's no risk of damaging or voiding it.
UAE gets mobile vouchers
The United Arab Emirates will be the first country in the Middle East to have mobile bar-code vouchers, with the release of MoSecure's Mobile Access Pack (MAP), says itp.net.
MAP aims to enhance interaction between brands and consumers, by allowing advertisers to push bar-coded vouchers and tickets to mobile consumers via SMS.
With the global mobile advertising spend expected to hit $11.35 billion by 2011, according to Informa Telecoms and Media, advertisers are increasingly realising the power of the humble SMS and other mobile-related marketing alternatives.
Low-energy Bluetooth demonstrated
CSR gave the world's first public demonstration of Bluetooth low-energy technology provided by CSR's BlueCore7 in a mobile phone handset, says MarketWatch.
The demonstration took place at the San Francisco meeting of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group's Medical Working Group, and consisted of a set of weighing scales and a temperature sensor connected via Bluetooth low energy to a cellphone.
This is apparently a major step towards establishing a standard low-power wireless technology and reinforces CSR's commitment to driving the development of Bluetooth low-energy products, particularly for applications in the medical sector.
