Future-proof complete fibre optic network solutions to be showcased at FTTH expo

Johannesburg, 16 Sep 2016

South African specialist fibre optic network component manufacturer Tank Industries and its affiliates, international cabling solutions firm R&M and fibre optic cable manufacturer CBi telecom cables, will jointly showcase future-proof integrated fibre optic network solutions at the upcoming FTTH Council Conference 2016, to be staged from 4-6 October at Cape Town's new Century City Conference Centre.

The solutions, including the innovative new R&M SYNO dome gel cold sealing and modular cable entry system, offer the full spectrum of world-class cables and local and international fibre optic network components.

Swiss-based R&M, its local manufacturer Tank Industries and local cable manufacturer CBi telecom cables have long collaborated on flexible, integrated fibre optic network solutions that complement each other to deliver high quality cost-effective network solutions. Clive Maasch, General Manager at Tank Industries, notes that his firm produces components for R&M, as well as manufacturing bespoke network solutions for local customers. "The collaboration between Tank Industries and R&M gives South African customers the best of world class standards and local support, flexibility and cost-effectiveness," he notes.

As South African fibre adoption surges, local telcos and service providers are increasingly seeking cost-effective high quality solutions that meet a number of uniquely local needs. Among these is a need for flexible infrastructure components, customised accessories and the ability to order components in smaller batches to support each phase of roll-out, instead of importing huge consignments of components at significant upfront cost.

"The South African market is finding that importing products makes it difficult to place staggered orders, customise design or access manufacturer support. In addition, exchange rate fluctuations make costing a challenge on large projects based on imported components," Maasch says. Tank Industries, in collaboration with R&M and CBi telecom, bring together the best of locally manufactured and imported cables and components into an integrated fibre optic network solution available through a single point of contact.

"Our ongoing collaborative R&D ensures that our solutions are fully integrated and flexible, simplifying network roll-out and controlling the cost of implementation," he says.

As a bronze sponsor of the FTTH conference, R&M will man its exhibition stand with sales and technical experts from R&M, Tank Industries and CBi telecom cables showcasing practical examples of a fibred up network utilising the cable and cables and accessories of all three manufacturers. The partner experts will be available for consultations on client requirements on the show floor, while R&M experts will also deliver talks during the event.
