Galdon Data provides RightFAX fax solution to NHBRC

Johannesburg, 09 Sept 1999

The National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC), one of the newest statutory bodies in South Africa, has selected Galdon to implement Goaldata`s RightFAX solution to consolidate the NHBRC`s fax communications facility.

The NHBRC administers a warranty scheme, which protects new homebuyers against faulty workmanship. Homebuilder`s registration with the NHBRC is currently voluntary, but any contractors wanting to build new housing units that require mortgage bond finance are obliged to register. As from 1 November 1999, this will change and builders will be required by to register and enroll houses. Future project linked housing subsidies will only be granted to registered contractors. Both these events will greatly increase the NHBRC`s workload.

Alan Cawse, sales director at Galdon Data, says "The NHBRC needed an electronic fax solution to cope with the existing and future demands. It had to be fast, able to handle large volumes, reliable and easy to use."

Sue Turner, business and systems analyst at the NHBRC, says "The NHBRC started out as a small organisation with a staff complement of 10 people, two computers and a printer. We had a list of builders on a spreadsheet which we transferred to an Access Database, but the NHBRC`s phenomenal growth forced us to move onto an SQL database with a Visual Basic front end."

At the time, the NHBRC was inundated with paper work. Homebuilder`s applications and housing enrolments were faxed through to the NHBRC office from around the country and data was captured manually.

"We found that we had minimal data integrity, because we didn`t have absolute control over the data capturing process and that was when our solutions provider, Galdon Data, came to the rescue."

After a brief consultation, Galdon Data suggested the implementation of Goaldata`s RightFAX product into the NHBRC`s existing system. "RightFAX offers the flexibility NHBRC needed for customised desktop faxing. The RightFAX server lets users fax directly from any workstation on their network."

The NHBRC currently has two ISDN lines dedicated to RighFAX. "There is no need to use the RightFAX icons, because RightFAX delivers documents directly into our Microsoft Exchange mailbox.

According to John Harrison, general manager at Goaldata, RightFax is only one component of the total unified messaging solution offered by the company. " We are in the unique position that we are able to offer our customers a total unified messaging solution, enabling them to access all their fax, voice and e-mail messages from their desktop PC or via the . I am sure that once the NHBRC begins to see the benefits of RightFax, and as their work-load increases, they will investigate a total unified messaging solution as part of their communications strategy, and once again we will be only too happy to assist."
