Nortel Networks is a leader in converged voice/data solutions for enterprises in North America according to a recently published research note from Gartner, a leading IT market intelligence firm.
In its first ever "Magic Quadrant" analysis of converged voice/data for enterprises in North America, Gartner cited Nortel Networks as the leader in solutions for 100 lines or less, as well as the leader in solutions for 100 lines and more.
"Nortel Networks is in a unique position within this marketplace because of its voice and data expertise," said Kathleen Simpson, an analyst at Gartner. "Nortel Networks ability to cross-sell voice and data services is supported by its direct and indirect distribution channels. Nortel Networks has an opportunity to continue as a leader if it capitalizes on its voice/data convergence opportunities."
Gartner`s analysis addressed how the convergence of IT and telecommunications will influence enterprise voice and call processing strategies during the next five years. Measurement criteria included "Ability to Execute" and "Completeness of Vision."
"Nortel Networks is uniquely positioned in the converged market space because we are able to address customer`s broad range of needs and differing rates of adoption, regardless of size," said Tony Wilson, Sales Director, Nortel Networks.
"Whether they want to evolve their existing networks via IP (Internet Protocol)-enabled or deploy pure IP, our customers can take advantage of our leadership position in end-to-end solutions spanning both carriers and enterprises," Wilson said.
"The vendor evaluation criteria and associated weighting was focused heavily in the following areas: Voice and data expertise, as well as distribution channel strength in both areas, strength of sales and marketing, product solutions, with an edge given to evolutionary approaches, and access into installed bases of both voice and data," the research note said.
