Gartner names InterSystems as visionary in Application Integration Magic Quadrant

Independent IT market research firm Gartner has positioned InterSystems in the Visionaries Quadrant of its just released Gartner 2004 Application Integration Magic Quadrant.

InterSystems provides high-performance software products targeted for IT organisations and independent software vendors. The company`s positioning in the Magic Quadrant is based on its Ensemble universal integration platform.

Launched in late 2003, Ensemble is the only integration platform to incorporate the functionality of an integration server, application server, high-performance object database and a unified development and management environment in a single, architecturally consistent product.

In addition to offering Ensemble, InterSystems develops and markets the CACH'E post-relational database. "We consider InterSystems` positioning in the visionary quadrant to be a reflection of the unique and comprehensive nature of our Ensemble universal integration platform," says InterSystems SA country manager Henry Adams. "We expect Ensemble to achieve the same high level of market acceptance that the CACH'E post-relational database enjoys around the world."

The Magic Quadrant research identifies vendors active in the integration middleware market and characterises their roles in the industry as of May 2004. According to Gartner, "visionaries understand the market and customer requirements well, but have a smaller installed base and often have fewer assets committed to the pursuit of this market than leaders".

Vendor positioning in this Magic Quadrant "considers a broad combination of application integration requirements, spanning B2B and internal application integration scenarios", according to Gartner. The research gives equal weight to consistency integration, multi-step processes that tie applications together and composite applications, which Gartner describes as the "three major integration styles".

Ensemble`s all-encompassing architecture has the power to integrate even the most complex systems rapidly and efficiently, overcoming the barriers and high service costs associated with integration projects today.

It not only enables exceptionally fast integration and rapid development of composite applications, but also allows companies to build new strategic business systems that leverage the functionality of existing applications, orchestrate new business processes, and integrate data across the organisation.
