Gartner positions Fujitsu as leader

Fujitsu has been positioned by Gartner as a leader in two Magic Quadrant reports: Help Desk Outsourcing, Europe1, and Desktop Outsourcing, Europe2, says Advertiser Talk.

The reports are evaluations based on completeness of vision and ability to execute. Gartner defines 'leaders' as “[those who] are performing skilfully, have a clear vision of the market's direction and are developing competencies to maintain their leadership position. They shape the market, rather than follow it.”

Both reports reflect Fujitsu's European scale and breadth of capability, as well as highlight the importance of standardising and industrialising the way Fujitsu designs and delivers services.

Infosys on outsourcing momentum

India's Infosys Technologies is confident of achieving the high end of its revenue growth forecast for the current quarter as the software exporter sees sustained momentum in volume of technology outsourcing work, its chief financial officer said, reports the Wall Street Journal.

"The momentum is still there and clients are spending. They are not postponing or cancelling any projects," V Balakrishnan told Dow Jones Newswires in a recent interview.

Infosys, the country's second-largest software exporter by sales after Tata Consultancy, had previously forecast sequential revenue growth of 4.1% to 5.1%, or about $1.413 billion to $1.427 billion for the current quarter ending 30 September.

Yahoo denies India outsourcing

A source revealed Yahoo is in the process of moving large numbers of engineering jobs within the YOS group to Bangalore. Yahoo PR mostly denies this, states Tech Crunch.

This includes Yahoo Developer Network (YDN), the platform for third party apps to be installed on the Yahoo home page for the most part. Yahoo confirms that some California based YDN engineers are being moved to other projects, calling it a “pretty minor internal shift of resources.”

However, at least two senior engineers were fired outright, Tech Crunch heard, and names are being held until Yahoo confirms of denies that.
