German water utility turns to CA`s Unicenter TNG for cost-effective e-business management

By Computer Associates Africa
Johannesburg, 28 Mar 2001

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), has announced that the German Water Utility Hamburger Wasserwerke (HWW) has chosen CA`s Unicenter TNG e-business management solution to automatically manage the complex IT systems, networks, and software requirements of its geographically dispersed e-business operations.

Supplying drinking water to millions of people in Hamburg and the surrounding areas at highly competitive prices, HWW sought an integrated solution to reduce the cost of managing and maintaining its e-business environment. After evaluating competing solutions, HWW decided that Unicenter TNG offered the most comprehensive set of eBusiness management features.

HWW will to rely on the integrated capabilities of the Asset Management Option and Software Delivery Option of Unicenter TNG. Collectively, these features will enable HWW to automatically maintain a complete inventory of their distributed electronic assets, enhancing its ability to proactively respond to system issues while consistently deploying system and application software across their enterprise.

HWW is especially pleased with the ability of Unicenter TNG to facilitate the implementation of complex application systems - including SAP R/3 and document management systems - across its entire e-business environment with a minimum of manual effort. The ability of Unicenter TNG to automate the distribution of R/3 client applications to remote machines significantly reduces the complexity and time associated with typical SAP implementations.

At the same time, the centralized network performance monitoring capabilities of Unicenter TNG allow HWW to streamline and simplify e-business system administration functions. Unicenter TNG has enabled HWW to fully maintain its heterogeneous IT environment with a minimum of overhead.

HWW realizes further administrative cost reductions and system availability improvements by deploying the Remote Control Option (RCO) of Unicenter TNG. Leveraging this valuable functionality, HWW staff are able to effectively log on and troubleshoot remote computing devices as if they were on site - significantly reducing the time and expense typically associated with network administration.

HWW is evaluating other Unicenter TNG options and features designed to make e-business management even more intuitive and user-friendly.
