Gestetner delivers speedy, multi-colour printer

Johannesburg, 12 Nov 2001

Gestetner has launched a new concept in multifunctional printers, which removes the traditional barriers associated with colour. The DSc38 delivers 38 pages per minute on a mono setting, while providing 28 pages per minute colour output.

According to Anthony Ho, product support manager Gestetner SA, the DSc38 is a high-speed printer for volume users that, with a variety of different options, can cater for any organisation`s printing demands, whatever their size. "We recognise that each office situation is different, so users can add the printer options which best suit their specific needs," he says.

The print quality of this machine is high at true 1200dpi resolution ensuring pin-sharp quality in mono and colour. Standard drivers such as Adobe PostScript 3 and PCL5c, guarantee that printed documents appear identical to how they were created on screen.

The finishing options of this printer includes duplex (double sided), sorting, as well as staple and hole punching that enables users to produce high volumes of products from their desktop PC, over the network or via the LCD panel.

Ho comments: "Colour documents which previously would have been printed in black and white, can now be seen in multicolour, as both mono and colour printing is available from a single device. The range of finishing options will allow professional, high quality colour documents to be produced in-house, at low cost."

This multifunctional printer can handle a wide range of paper types from OHP transparencies to envelopes. With a 500-sheet standard capacity and up to 3 500-sheet with the optional variety of paper banks, the machine does not have to be constantly refilled, even on larger jobs. When the paper feed runs out, it automatically searches other trays for paper of the same size and orientation.

The DSc38 can act as a completely centralised document workstation providing A4 and A3 digital document output printing functions. "With a wide range of options, it is fully customisable to suit a variety of specific printing needs," adds Ho.

The DSc38 will be further enhanced with the release of copying, faxing and scanning options in the first quarter, 2002 that will further entrench the DSc38`s position as a true Digital Colour Multifunctional Product.
