Afrihost is running a limited special on its 50GB and 100GB monthly data packages: It has reduced its existing monthly prices for these packages by over 34%, and on top of this, it is doubling your data cap until at least 31 May.
The end result is that you'll only pay R9.50 per GB if you sign up for this limited offer.
"We are offering only 500 of these packages on a first come first served basis," says Gian Visser, CEO of Afrihost. "We're reducing the monthly price for our 50GB and 100GB packages and we'll also double the monthly GBs until 31 May (but hopefully longer)."
This means if you sign up for the special 50GB package, you will also get an extra 50GBs to use monthly. This means you'll get 100GB to use monthly for only R950 or R9.50 per GB.
Similarly, you'll actually get 200GB per month until 31 May if you sign up for the 100GB package for R1 900 per month.
Visser says: "We are looking for clients who want to move a ton of traffic and want to do so at the cheapest per GB international bandwidth offered in South Africa. In September last year, we stunned the market by dropping our ADSL prices to R29 per GB, and this is the next step in the fight to bring ADSL data costs down in South Africa."
"We are selling these packages at well below our cost in an attempt to increase our overall bandwidth usage. With this additional bandwidth usage we can then hopefully get bulk discounts and further our fight to bring lower consumer ADSL prices."
Afrihost is hoping to be able to extend this offer beyond May, but it guarantees that even if the extra GBs given fall away, anyone who manages to sign up for the special will never pay more than R19 per GB while they are on these packages with Afrihost.
Visser also said Afrihost strongly believed in rewarding loyal clients and as such, all existing customers on the 50GB or 100GB packages had automatically been converted to the special pricing structure, and the extra GBs would be added at the beginning of next month.
"However, this does mean that a fair amount of the 500 special packages have already been taken," Visser said.
In effect, Afrihost has brought the price of its 100GB packages down from R2 900 per month to R1 900 per month, and its 50GB packages down from R1 450 to R950 per month. On top of this, it has doubled the data cap from 100GB to 200GB and from 50GB to 100GB until at least 31 May.
Visser concluded: "We will be keeping all clients who sign up for the special updated through the course of the next three months, and will let them know if we are able to extend the extra GB allocation past 31 May."
