Getting a full handle on the subject of business process management, and potential benefits that can flow from the discipline can be a challenge for even the most interested executives.
Shedding a lot more illumination on the topic, business process management specialist Global 360 is working with independent industry thought leader in the field, Mark McGregor, as it seeks to help businesses derive more value from business process management (BPM).
Organisations everywhere are faced with challenges on a scale never before seen. The overriding necessity is to do more with less. “That's why we've teamed up with McGregor, a man described as a BPM 'guru' by Gartner, to run two different courses in Johannesburg,” says Tim Stanley, Global 360 sales director.
These courses are designed to equip business leaders, managers and practitioners with the tools and techniques needed to drive successful change programmes.
BPM is becoming an ever-more relevant discipline in many organisations, but in particular, those that have complex processes where human intervention may be necessary. Even in the absence of formal BPM, these companies are generally performing satisfactorily; this throws open the door to understanding, mapping and improving processes through automation and refinement where possible.
That is in part what McGregor will deal with; he will also address the critical role that is played by people in any business process.
An individual who speaks, writes and coaches all over the world, McGregor has in the past two years alone presented to over 5 000 people in more than 20 countries. As the author and co-author of numerous books and hundreds of articles dealing with BPM, business improvement, and enterprise architecture, McGregor is convinced - and convincing - about the benefits these can bring to business.
As an experienced BPM practitioner, a Six Sigma Black Belt, a certified PRINCE2 Practitioner and Licensed Master Practitioner and Trainer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, McGregor offers a broad skill set. He has even been described as a 'guru' by leading analysts Gartner Group, a 'master of mindset' by IQPC and a 'thought leader' by the BPM Group.
Stanley says the training sessions are not vendor-specific but are designed to provide South African business leaders with insights and vision to put BPM to work effectively in their organisations. “BPM can help with productivity, especially if it is introduced with a specific focus on people and change management. Such approaches are proven to improve not only the processes themselves, but the ability of the people who work within the processes to execute their tasks more effectively.”
Hosted at Microsoft's offices in Bryanston, two courses will be presented by McGregor. They are a one-day seminar: 'The Business of Process Management' (29 September 2009) and a two-day course: 'The People side of Change', which is a workshop for analysts and process practitioners (30 September-1 October 2009).
