Following Gigabyte Technology`s launch of its range, official South African distributor Rectron has announced that this high-end series incorporating among others Intel`s 925X and 915P chipsets, is now available to the local marketplace.
These include the two flagship motherboards the GA-8ANXP-D with the Intel 925X platform, and the GA-8GPNXP Duo based on the Intel 915P chipset featuring support for DDR-2 and DDR-1.
Featuring advanced features such as 90nm technology - a leading chip-making process - Gigabyte`s Sigma range supports DDR-2 533/400 to deliver a maximum memory bandwidth of 8.5GBps in dual channel DDR mode.
Along with enhanced performance, the series features additional system stability with Gigabyte`s Universal Plus Dual Power System (U-Plus DPS). U-Plus DPS is an eight-phase power circuit designed to withstand varying electrical current levels, ensuring future processor upgrades.
"Gigabyte`s 8S (Sigma) series is packed with advanced features that not only enable superior performance but system stability that is so critical in today`s high volume IT environments," comments Reon Coetzee, marketing manager of Rectron.
The Gigabyte 8S (Sigma) series also offers multimedia advancements through PCI-Express for graphics output, doubling that of the current AGP8X interface.
And for improved networking, Dual Gigabit LAN provides simultaneous WAN and LAN connection at fast network connection speed of up to 1 000Mbps for both network types, while the addition of integrated 802.11g wireless LAN solution standard provides a more flexible networking connection.
Finally to round off the 8S (Sigma) is PC home theatre-quality sound using Intel High Definition Audio for enhanced multi-channel audio, improved voice and communication input, and multi-streaming capability.
