Gigabyte launches motherboards to support AMD Sempron

Johannesburg, 22 Oct 2004

Leading motherboard manufacturer, Gigabyte Technology and South African distributor, Rectron have introduced the AMD Socket A and Socket 754 motherboards which support the latest AMD Sempron processing technology.

With innovative and high-performance engineering and design, Gigabyte motherboards are now a reliable platform for Sempron processors. Importantly, existing motherboard owners will be able to easily upgrade to the new processors by simply downloading and flashing a new BIOS upgrade.

AMD`s Sempron Processor comes loaded with features that enable applications to run better and improve the overall computing experience.

With this announcement, Gigabyte continues its tradition for producing expandable, adaptable motherboards with extended product lifecycles. The popular RZ Series AMD motherboards, for example, represent the best solution for the new Socket A Sempron processor.

"We believe that with Sempron supported motherboard, new users will have the benefit of buying into the latest technology when the processor is officially released, while current motherboard owners will also be able to benefit from Sempron processor with a simple BIOS upgrade," comments Reon Coetzee, marketing manager of Rectron.
