Gigabyte supports Intel vPro technology

Johannesburg, 21 Sep 2006

Gigabyte Technology, a leading manufacturer of motherboards, graphics cards and other computing hardware solutions, have recently announced support for the Intel vPro technology platform. Henceforth, all new Gigabyte motherboards designed specifically for business PCs, (which are being distributed locally by Rectron) will begin using the Intel Q965 Express Chipsets, with built in vPro support.

Intel vPro technology was designed specifically to provide remote management capabilities, and proactive security, thereby minimising incidents of malicious PC attacks and corporate data theft, while giving businesses the ability to remotely inventory, diagnose and repair PCs. This will dramatically reduce the number of onsite repair visits that businesses undergo while increasing overall computer uptime.

As an integral component of the vPro platform, the Intel Q965 Express Chipset is fine-tuned for business applications and is a key ingredient of the Intel Stable Image Platform Program. When combined with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, this new chipset delivers the most advanced manageability, data protection, and stability capabilities to help address businesses` top concerns in the areas of asset management, safer computing and support for energy efficient performance.

All Gigabyte PCs with Intel vPro technology motherboards are also ready to be upgraded to the next-generation Windows Vista operating system, with built-in graphics and support for 64-bit applications.
