Global IT spending on the rise

As the online threat landscape continues to evolve and grow, global spending on IT is estimated to rise to $60 billion, according to market research company, RNCOS, writes Zawya.

The study also shows that IT security in the Middle East is projected to grow by 12% over the next three years, as governments and financial institutions adopt advanced security solutions.

During Gitex Technology Week 2010 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 17 to 21 October, leading vendors will showcase a range of the latest security products including IT security appliances, services and software.

IT suppliers back reform coalition

Key IT suppliers in the UK support the coalition's bid to reform the place of technology in government and believe new processes are long overdue, but many think some areas are unclear or contradictory, a leading analyst has found, Telegraph reports.

Respondents in the Public Sector Views report showed strong support for the new government's plans, but only if they are executed “in the right way”.

On a range of pledges proposed by the coalition, on average 82% of respondents supported the plans.

Next-gen employees bring mindset change

Managing the next generation of employees is the major challenge HR managers are going to face in the coming years, senior IT sector officials say, according to Times of India.

“Pay hikes, bonus and designation do not largely matter but an appreciation in public for the work done carries more weight amongst the new generation,” says R Chandrasekaran, president and MD of Cognizant Technology Solutions.

“They work on the power of collaboration. Companies have to provide such collaborative tools. In fact, performance appraisals have to be redesigned.”
