Global Technology restructuring one step further

Johannesburg, 16 Jul 2003

Glotec yesterday announced it has entered into an agreement with Lexshell 577 Investments and Ray Leonard, former Chief Executive Officer, to dispose of Global Technology Services, AJS Developments, Xpertek Management Products and Sagacious Systems. This takes one step further the restructuring of the group.

Graeme Victor, recently appointed Chief Executive Officer of the group, comments: "We made the decision to reposition Glotec to focus on business performance management, business process outsourcing and enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions. Glotec will be providing these services through its three remaining divisions: Global Technology (Pty) Ltd (GBI), Brolink (Pty) Ltd and Associated Computer Solutions (Pty) Ltd(ACS).

"The restructuring process has resulted in a more stable group and our customers are reconfirming their faith in Glotec. As a result, deals are starting to flow through again. We are confident that our three remaining focus areas provide Glotec with a solid foundation for future growth."

GBI provides best-of-breed solutions in the traditional business intelligence and business performance management (BPM) arena. It is the local distributor of Hyperion, Business Objects and Armstrong Laing. Currently, its solutions are utilised by 85 leading South African companies, including 20 of the country`s top 25 public companies. Not only has Hyperion (the leading BPM solution in the world) recommitted to Glotec by signing a three-year contract, confirming its confidence in the company, but it has also recently named GBI as its Top Distributor for the Year 2002/3.

Brolink forms an integral link between insurance companies and insurance brokers by performing insurance administration of personal lines portfolios on behalf of insurance companies, and providing portfolio and administrative management to insurance brokers. As part of its service offering, Brolink assists both insurers and brokers in streamlining the management of their clients with the provision of a leading Web-based, short-term insurance system and a commercial lines system, both of which are available on an application service provider (ASP) model. The division`s clients include leading short-term insurers and brokers. Building on its current base, Glotec`s future focus will be on expanding Brolink`s service offering to grow it into a fully-fledged business processing outsourcing service.

ACS boasts a loyal client base of 80 companies within the manufacturing and distribution industries, which have been utilising its services for the past 20 years. Going forward, Glotec will focus on promoting ACS`s full service offering, which includes software solutions that provide companies with the agility of structure and control needed in the manufacturing, distribution and accounting business environments.

Victor has over 20 years` experience in the business solutions environment and has held a number of director-level positions in blue chip companies. He has been successfully involved in re-engineering and re-focussing a number of companies, including Computicket, Vodac and Tiscali (previously World Online). He was appointed by the Glotec board with this in mind. He also has the experience to take a company with a solid foundation and grow it into a strong, profitable business.
