In this edition of the Worldwide Wrap, Google's new tool for April Fools is facing a backlash and a Minnesota entrepreneur plans to market a gun resembling a smartphone.

Google is facing a fierce backlash after introducing a new tool for April Fools' Day that has cost some people potential jobs.

The new Gmail Mic Drop button, which sits next to the normal send button, ends an e-mail thread forever by muting all future replies to the sender, and firing off a gif of a minion "mic dropping" at the same time.

Some people using it have failed to see the funny side however, saying that by accidentally pressing the button instead of simply sending the e-mail, they have appeared rude or unprofessional, in some cases costing them jobs.

Smartphone handgun

A Minnesota entrepreneur plans to market a .380-caliber pistol later this year that will resemble an ordinary, pocket-size smartphone when not in use - a "virtually undetectable" weapon that has already drawn ire from top cops and anti-gun advocates.

"In today's day and age, carrying a concealed pistol has become a necessity," says Kirk Kjellberg on the Web site of his company, Ideal Conceal. "But what if you didn't have to conceal?"

Anonymous hacks Angolan government

A Portuguese branch of the Anonymous hacking collective says it has shut down around 20 Angolan government Web sites in retaliation to the jailing of 17 youth activists for plotting a "rebellion".

The youths, including well-known rapper Luaty Beir~ao, were sentenced on Monday to between two and eight-and-a-half years, in a ruling that Amnesty International said was "an affront to justice".

Jay Z 'to sue' former Tidal owners

A year after buying a little-known music service and relaunching it as Tidal, Jay Z appears to be preparing to sue its original owners for misleading him about its performance.

Lawyers for the musician turned millionaire businessman has reportedly written to venture capital firm Verdane and Scandinavian media conglomerate Schibsted saying they "significantly" exaggerated the service's number of users.

Starbucks in your e-mail

Starbucks, the coffee giant is working on Microsoft Outlook add-in for meeting scheduling and gift card.

The feature will let Outlook users quickly schedule meetings at nearby Starbucks locations, and purchase and send Starbucks gift cards without leaving the e-mail program.
