Graphic Mining Solutions International (GMSI), the mining solutions business unit within the AST Group, has announced that GMSI Pegs Professional and GMSI Sampling is fast becoming an industry standard within the gold and platinum mining environment. The software packages have already been successfully implemented in AngloGold, Goldfields and Amplats.
GMSI Pegs Professional is a comprehensive computerised Surveying system designed for underground and Open Pit mining operations. GMSI Sampling is a sampling capturing and reporting system, which combines user friendliness with accuracy and speed to provide valuable information.
"The flexibility of these two software packages makes it an ideal solution for the mining industry," explains Tony McGourty of GMSI. "Not only does it reduce the costs of the mine but interfaces with other mining value chain applications to provide a holistic solution."
GMSI Pegs handles the daily calculations performed by the surveyor and stores both the raw field data and processed data in a relational database. All graphical output is then sent to MicroStation, allowing presentation-quality plans of any scale and format to be produced.
GMSI Sampling contributes towards improved effectiveness and efficiency in the sampling department and provides quality data for the valuation function. The user-friendly interfaces input observations in both text and graphic format, providing co-ordinate information for each sample section.
GMSI plans to seamlessly integrate the packages with electronic survey instrumentation to provide direct downloading of data. This provides time saving benefits, as well as improving the accuracy of data in the survey, geology and planning environments.
