Johannesburg, 15 Mar 2004

The notebook can offer a business far more advantages today than ever before. The latest notebook offering by Sahara Computers combines high-performance CD writer and DVD-Rom capability, powered by Intel Centrino technology, to expand the mobile office frontier.

Sahara introduces its Supernova Centrino Notebook with guaranteed extended battery life which means on-the-go computing wherever and whenever connectivity is required.

The product features a CDRW and DVD-Rom combo drive with a 1.4GHz Intel Pentium M Processor, 256MB DDR RAM, a 4-in-1 Smart Media Reader that supports Memory Stick, SmartMedia Card, MultiMedia Card, Secure Digital, a Compact Flash Reader, a 15-inch TFT screen, built-in Fax Modem and 10/100 Ethernet LAN as well as an Intel WLAN adapter for wireless connectivity.

Says Atul Gupta, MD of Sahara Computers: "Judging by the combination of features and the functionality that users gain from this product, it is clear that mobile and wireless technology is an attractive alternative to a far wider market than just the top-end enterprise or corporate market. The Supernova series is built for durability and high performance but packaged with practicality, accessibility and affordability in mind."

Intel's Centrino technology is designed specifically for mobile computing with wireless LAN capability and extended battery life. The Pentium M processor is a key component of this architecture and is available at speeds of up to 1.70GHz.

"The processor features 'advanced power distribution intelligence' which automatically shuts down components that are not being used to ensure maximum benefit from the technology. The CD writer and DVD combination is an attractive feature for mobile enthusiasts who require the benefit of various applications while on the move," says Gupta.

"Mobile connectivity is being enhanced through extensive and rapid research and development resulting in product ranges like the Supernova that help to extend the capabilities of individuals and harness core business values essential to growth and development," he concludes.
