GoldMine Software, the sales force automation company recently acquired by JSE-listed Ixchange, has had its flagship application, GoldMine 4.0, named Best Enterprise Client/Server Application at the 1999 Excellence in Software Award ceremonies in Los Angeles.
Goldmine 4.0 earned this accolade, the equivalent of a software Oscar, based on the votes accorded it by hundreds of peers throughout the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA). More than 540 products were nominated for 39 categories.
"Awards such as these are vital as they acknowledge positions of industry leadership," says Johan Botha, GM of Ixchange Support Management Solutionbs (SMS). "The industry has a track record of rewarding absolute industry leaders, which GoldMine has become, with more than more than 100 000 sites and more than 600 000 users around the world."
Ixchange has stated its intentions to merge GoldMine with Bendata, the support solution leader it acquired last year. The combined entity, GoldMine Software, will be the absolute global leader in the mid-market customer relationship management (CRM) software market - combined 1998 GoldMine and HEAT sales were 60% greater than the nearest competitor.
The Codie Awards encompass software for any type of computer user - at home, work, school, or on the Internet - including business, education, entertainment, consumer, enterprise and online applications. Winning the award, says the SIIA, means the product has been deemed the highest of quality and the most innovative product on the market.
