Google, Samsung to unveil Chromebox PC
Social Barrel reveals.
According to a post on Google's official UK blog, the Chromebox is similar to an Apple Mini desktop box that will plug into any TV or monitor and allow customers to use Chrome OS.
Google adds that both the Chromebox and the revamped Series 5 Chromebook will use Intel Core series processors to offer three times the speed of the first-generation Chromebooks.
“Support for hardware-accelerated graphics, a built-from-scratch multi-touch trackpad and an open-source firmware stack provide a much faster and more responsive computing experience,” the Google blog post says, writes The Inquirer.
“The new Chromebook boots in less than seven seconds and resumes instantly. With the Chromebox, you can be on a video conference while continuing to play [games] on the side.”
Chrome OS has been popular with schools and businesses due to its automatic upgrades to the latest version and reduction in the need for IT departments to manage anti-virus systems.
The Chromebox could integrate even better with businesses than the Chromebook has so far due to its potential as a desktop PC replacement.
