Google takes on Siri with Google Assistant
Phones Review reports.
The Google guys have been working on a voice assistant for Android, which was known as Majel, and was said to be named after Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, the wife of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry.
Fresh information on Google plans reveals that the folks at Mountain View are planning to unveil a multi-platform 'Google Assistant' by the end of the year, Device Magazine writes.
The project was a part of the earlier leaked Majel project from Google; however, now it is being taken up by the Android team as an attempt to expand the existing Voice Actions.
The move is crucial since archrival Apple is apparently going to unleash the Siri power beyond smartphone devices by integrating it into Apple TV. Google cannot just sit and watch it.
The feature will be personalised and will make use of Google's data collection regarding how people behave online and will be "less about returning search results and more about accomplishing real-life goals", the report says.
Aside from being personalised, having the Google Assistant would also mean that people could have access to other Google products, International Business Times reveals.
Due to Google's recent privacy policy changes, users can now integrate other Google products like Gmail, Google Docs, YouTube, Google Goggles, Google Maps, and the like. The integration of these Google products makes a more intelligent profile, and with the integration of Google Assistant, all of these products can be accessed through voice commands.
