Google tops another search survey
Google has come out on top of yet another survey of the search-engine market, following the company`s top rankings on recent surveys by HitWise and Nielsen//NetRatings, reports Sci Tech Today.
Analysis firm ComScore Networks` latest rankings report indicates that, in April, Google gained market share for the ninth consecutive month. Google maintained its top position by capturing 43.1% of all US searches.
Yahoo remained in second place with 28%, while MSN came in third place with 12.9%.
IM browser hijacks with music
A new browser hijacker called Safety Browser that plays music is targeting Yahoo Messenger. A worm dubbed yhoo32.explr installs the Safety Browser, reports ZDNet.
The worm installs a new browser without notice and consent and changes the victim`s homepage.
Sony Ericsson offers Walkman cell in Japan
The fact that 90% of music downloads in Japan are carried out on cellphones rather than PCs is a measure of the sophistication of the country`s "keitai" - or mobile phone - culture, reports Forbes.
Hence the latest move from Sony Ericsson to offer a Walkman cellphone in the country, allowing users to download music onto their handsets in a partnership with mobile carrier KDDI.
Company officials said the handsets will come with 1GB of built-in memory and will play for 30 hours. It`s basically an iPod Nano that can take calls.
