Google unveils online spreadsheet program

Google Spreadsheet aims to battle Microsoft Excel while trying to chip away at the dominance of Microsoft Office, reports Daily Tech.

The program will be free online without users being forced to download it. Analysts have already criticised the new program due to a number of reasons.

Some believe that only students and users on a tight budget should consider using Google Spreadsheet. Others say the program seems to be aimed at people who want to save and share simple spreadsheets with other users.

Apple re-launches U2 special edition iPod

Apple has introduced a new edition of the U2-branded iPod that it first released in October 2004. The new U2 Special Edition iPod offers an extra 10GB of storage for a total of 30GB, and is being sold for a lower price, reports Sci Tech Today.

Apple says the new U2 iPod can hold up to 7 500 songs, 25 000 photos, or over 75 hours of video. It comes with an all-black stainless-steel enclosure, a red click-wheel, and custom engraving of U2 band-member .

Those buying a U2 iPod will receive 30 minutes of exclusive U2 video for free, downloadable from the iTunes store. The price for the new U2 iPod is $329.

Microsoft tackles enterprise messaging

Microsoft yesterday announced a line of enterprise e-mail security products for its Exchange server software as the company`s first venture into corporate security since it bought Sybari Software 16 months ago, reports Information Week.

The company unveiled five new Antigen-branded products, all of which will be available via volume licensing on 1 July. Four of the five can be downloaded in 90-day free trial versions from Microsoft`s Web site.
