Dance eJay 3 works on a loop-based system and pretty much picks up where programs like MTV Music Generator or Mixman DJ Megamix left off. This program does not feature anything revolutionary when we take a look at the way the tracks and songs are made.
However, its funky looks and ease of use make up for its lack of inspiration and creativity. If you have ever used programs like Sonic Foundry`s Acid Music, then you will find Dance eJay 3 a walk in the park.
All options in this program can be accessed in two ways: the command buttons placed on the screen or the shortcuts on the keyboard.
It allows you to work with 32 channels at a time, which is more than enough even for sophisticated users. Although the time-line on the screen is not as advanced as it is in Acid Music, it still is sufficient for making plenty of bouncy dance tunes.
Hidden within the program are four extra editing facilities, which allow you to edit samples, create special effects, create loops with a nicely set-up drum machine and even lay down a video track. Who knows, you just might make a music video.
The fact that it can run on prehistoric hardware like Pentium II 300MHz with only 32MB RAM, makes it available to almost everyone out there. It should also be mentioned that the CD contains 5 000 mind-blowing samples, all divided into 10 different categories, eg loops, voice, effects, drums, etc.
For those who love dance music, and enjoy fast beats and funkadelic grooves, then put Dance eJay 3 on your shopping list this month. Not only does it take away your social life, but it also develops your undiscovered creativity and forces you to think music, and only music.
