Citizens, organisations and foreign nationals seeking information on government services will be able to access this in any of SA's 11 languages.

That's according to state news agency BuaNews, which yesterday reported government Web site, www.services.gov.za, is operational.

So far, the most popular queries accessed are transport-related, and include how one goes about registering for learner and driver licences and registering motor vehicles, said the article.

SA recognises 11 official languages: Afrikaans, English, isiNdebele, isiXhosa, isiZulu, Sesotho sa Leboa, Sesotho, Setswana, siSwati, Tshivenda and Xitsonga. These will be available from a drop-down menu on the left side of the main page.

Although each government department takes ownership of its own information on the Web site, the government communications unit is responsible for the overall management and co-ordination of the Web site's content.
