Grintek's AIS assists Mettle with the integration of new trading system

Johannesburg, 13 Aug 2003

Grintek's Application Integration Software (AIS) company has further assisted empowerment financial services company Mettle Treasury (Pty) Ltd with the seamless integration of a new trading system, called Panorama, which links it directly into the Bond Exchange for bond and repo trading, using AIS's eLite middleware product set.

Panorama Trading and Panorama Back Office, a front and back office trading solution, is a set of trading software modules that allows traders to enter deals quickly with graphical user interface controls or shortcut keyboard entries. Real-time market information is paramount in a trading environment and Panorama delivers the advantages of price and performs pre-deal limit checks and reservations. Its risk management modules work seamlessly with Panorama trading to provide a single system view of multiple trading systems for different asset types. Panorama trading also links to Panorama Back Office providing a straight-through processing (STP) solution.

Mettle Treasury's risk manager Paul Lapham comments: "AIS has assisted in enabling us to integrate the Panorama trading system in an efficient, seamless manner, resulting in a highly efficient environment for bond and repo trading through its eLite middleware product."

This has been achieved with the upgrade of Mettle's already existing enterprise application integration (EAI) architecture to enable the integration of the new Panorama trading system into the new Bond Exchange application program interface (API)

eLite middleware from AIS serves as the STP element to integrate certain types of transactions within the bonds and bond repo section of the business, which are generated within Panorama. This in turn is passed through to the system of the bond exchange, bond automated trading system (BATS) in the required format and this integration is completed in a fully automated, STP manner. eLite then reports on the matches and mismatches of trade to counterpart information.

"We have engineered a smooth and seamless EAI transition, on behalf of Mettle, from its previous integrated internal trading system to the installed and integrated Panorama system," concludes Rupert Pulverman, Grintek's AIS director of consultancy.
