Growth 'phenomenal` in Indian x86 market

The Indian x86 servers saw "phenomenal" growth in 2005, reports ExpressComputerOnline, adding the market doubled both in unit shipments and factory revenues in 2005.

According to IDC India, the x86 market grew by 42% to 89 193 units vis-`a-vis 62 751 in 2004. In factory revenue terms, the x86 market grew by 46.1% to $284.97 million.

"Total branch , core applications in finance, insurance, government purchases, IT services, and small and medium enterprise buying are responsible for the market growth in 2005," says Dinender Sharma, manager: computing products and channel research, IDC India.

Castelle unveils fax server

Castelle, a network fax solutions provider for the business and enterprise markets announced the release of FaxPress Enterprise.

"FaxPress Enterprise offers more robust server hardware, including an Intel Pentium 4 processor, 1GB of internal memory and Microsoft`s SAK 3.0 embedded operating system," says CEO Scott McDonald.

Coinciding with the release of FaxPress Enterprise, Castelle has also introduced a software suite that operates on FaxPress Enterprise and FaxPress Premier fax servers.

Dell gets Zen with Novell

Dell this week unveiled Novell ZENworks 7 Linux Management - Dell Edition, which it describes as a comprehensive Linux systems management solution for Dell`s PowerEdge servers, ServerWatch reports.

"What we`ve done is integrated the pre-OS bare metal deployment tool for Dell servers into ZENworks 7 Linux management, and we`ve also integrated Dell`s system software patching tools into Zen works," says Ed Reynolds, senior manager of Dell`s systems management marketing group.
