GTS in final liquidation

Johannesburg, 15 Jul 2010

Goal Technology Solutions (GTS) has been placed into final liquidation.

The liquidators are now asking creditors to submit affidavits indicating how much they are owed.

Towards the end of last month, ITWeb revealed the company had been placed into provisional liquidation. Its final liquidation has now been confirmed, after joint liquidator Norman Klein sent out a letter to creditors.

Klein's letter states he has been appointed as a joint liquidator by the Master of the High Court. He says he is investigating the company's affairs and will send out a copy of the liquidators' report “in due course”.

The letter adds that creditors should submit a claim form as quickly as possible. “The early return of claims will assist with the verification of liabilities and we await your earliest response.”

GTS, although small with about 60 staff in Gauteng, where the bulk of its operations were, is believed to owe a “substantial” amount to creditors and was placed in voluntary provisional liquidation by management.

GTS started out as a division of Grintek, but was bought out in 2004 to become an independent company and entered the space, using powerlines to offer connectivity. Its offerings included Internet, telephony, video-on-demand and services.

Two years ago, it said it would launch a pay-television service in December 2008, which never materialised.
