Hack allows apps to run on Apple TV
Tech Radar reports.
The proof-of-concept MobileX hack, which runs on a jail-broken second-generation Apple TV device, was built by a developer known as Nick@TheMudKip, who was then assisted by Steven Troughton-Smith.
According to Touch Reviews, the jailbreak community has always tried and been successful in giving users more options to customise their iOS devices. Even as Apple tries its best to plug the security holes and bugs to get rid of 'jailbreak', the community continues to find new bugs and release updated tools to make jailbreaking possible.
"Nick had written this amazing window manager for the iPad that replaced the entire home-screen, allowing you to run multiple apps side by side," T3.com quotes Dublin-based hacker Troughon-Smith as saying.
"I realised this could enable iOS apps on the Apple TV for the first time.
"We've spent the past two days modifying everything to work really well on the Apple TV screen size, etc, and getting apps to run."
