Harvey Jones launches ProClarity 6 in SA with road show

Johannesburg, 14 Dec 2004

Harvey Jones Systems, the local distributor of ProClarity`s analytical platform, toured SA during November to unveil the company`s latest release, ProClarity 6.

The Harvey Jones Systems road show covered Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Johannesburg over four days, and more than 250 people attended the event around the country.

The new release of ProClarity Analytics Platform includes ProClarity Analysis Server, ProClarity Live Server, ProClarity Business Logic Server and ProClarity Dashboard Server, providing companies with a holistic business intelligence (BI) solution that offers a 360-degree view of the business.

"ProClarity 6 is the largest product launch in the company`s history," says Keith Jones, MD of Harvey Jones Systems. "It enables companies to see what is happening in the business, to understand what has happened, and to plan for what will happen."

Advanced functionality in ProClarity 6 includes a performance map, or heat map, and key performance indicator (KPI) visualisation with bubble-up KPIs. The Performance Map tool uses size, colour and location to clearly visualise business areas needing attention. The drill-down capabilities of the Decomposition Tree tool enables users to investigate problems or successes highlighted in dashboards or reports, and do root cause analysis.

Using the KPI Visualisation tool, users can view goals in relation to the business status, and market and operational trends. KPI Designer enables business users to create, manage and share their own KPIs. The visuals used to display information, such as gauges, dials and stoplights, were inspired on SQL Server 2005, with which ProClarity 6 is fully compliant.

"ProClarity 6 will help companies speed up business-critical initiatives through the design and deployment of analytic applications, integration of disparate data sources and consolidation of knowledge," says Jan van Dijk, product manager for ProClarity. "It empowers users to access any information they need, live. The IT department has greater control over which people are accessing what information; and IT resources are not wasted on designing and scripting reports for business users."

The ProClarity Analytics Family, ProClarity Live Family and a comprehensive software development kit, make up the Analytics Platform of ProClarity 6. The Analytics family centrally manages, stores and deploys best practices and KPIs.

The ProClarity Live Family adds real-time analytics in the Microsoft Excel environment, enabling users to access information using a familiar tool.

With the ability to centrally manage live connections to multiple data sources, ProClarity Live Server empowers decision makers to respond to issues immediately.

"The Analytics Family provides decision-makers with improved understanding, planning and action by delivering impressive visualisations, easy navigation and multiple connections to diverse, live data sources," Van Dijk says. "By delivering reports in the familiar Excel format, the Live Family suite increases user adoption while decreasing training time. The Analytics Platform removes the cost, time and complexity barriers to building custom analytic applications, while ensuring productivity, user adoption and competitive advantage."
