Health Guide gets green light

Intel has received the US Food and Drug Administration's clearance to market Health Guide, an in-home device that lets health-care providers monitor a patient's vital signs via the Internet, as well as providing interactive tools such as video conferencing and e-mail to facilitate communication and education outreach, states CRM Buyer.

Health Guide can connect to specific models of wired and wireless medical devices, including blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, pulse oximeters, peak-flow meters and weight scales.

It stores and displays collected information on a touchscreen and then sends it to a secure host server for the health-care provider's review.

HST releases eCallections

Canadian-based Healthcare Support Technologies, makers of DocOfficeRx; the online medical coding and practice management resource, has released its latest offering, eCallections, says PR-Canada.

eCallections uses advanced technologies to automatically place patient payment reminder phone calls to patients with overdue or unpaid balances.

The service aims to enhance the way medical practices, medical billing service bureaus and other healthcare organisations collect outstanding patient balances.

Medsphere, WebReach partner

Medsphere Systems Corporation, a US provider of open source health-care IT solutions, has entered into a partnership with WebReach, another health-care IT consultancy and creator of open source health IT solutions, for comprehensive support of Medsphere's OpenVista electronic health record, reports Red Orbit.

Through Mirth, WebReach's health-care messaging integration engine, Medsphere creates standard interfaces for a hospital's existing and proprietary applications, enabling disparate patient systems to efficiently exchange information.

This rapid, seamless and scalable interaction between existing information systems and the OpenVista solution enables facilities to realise clinical, operational and benefits in as little as half the time and for one-third the cost of alternative solutions.
