Hemisphere Technologies, SA`s premier provider of superior Java skills, has been commissioned by Bridge People and Technology to re-architecture its KnowHow product.
KnowHow is a Web-based learning management and evaluation system that is used by top local and international corporate organisations to provide e-learning material to their staff, based on their job roles and training requirements.
In the execution of this project, Hemisphere Technologies combined the top specialists in the industry with the best processes and technologies to establish a robust and scalable platform that will support Bridge`s growing business needs. According to Gerhard du Toit, director at Hemisphere Technologies, the company is focused to deliver cost-effective solutions tailored to satisfy the specific needs of clients.
The Bridge project was initiated as a result of the findings of an audit done by Hemisphere of the existing KnowHow system. Before construction started, Hemisphere did a comprehensive business analysis of the software application to establish the exact scope of the development. While this was an outsourced assignment, Bridge`s commitment and support greatly contributed to the success of the project.
Hemisphere used its high performance JDO Genie implementation to manage the data access in the deployment of the Bridge software. "We favour Java in most of our development projects, because of its independent nature," says Du Toit.
Hemisphere adheres to the basic principals of iterative development as described by RUP, but also includes aspects of feature-driven development and practices of extreme programming in its systems development process. Using an iterative development process, it helps clients to manage costs and deliverables effectively.
"Hemisphere created a top-class product and met our specific needs in a very professional manner," says Gary Galanti, director at Bridge People and Technology. "With the new enhancements, we can now easily add additional features to the product as the market changes."
