Konica Minolta South Africa, a wholly owned Bidvest Group company, has announced the South African launch of its bizhub 552 and bizhub 652 series multifunction printers (MFPs). The new series has attained high-volume output, while introducing efficient, high-quality colour scanning capabilities.
“Combining comprehensive monochrome printing, faxing and copying capabilities, the bizhub 552 and 652 complete our black and white portfolio. At the same time, the new series meets the growing demands of data capture with colour scanning,” says Andrew Griffith, product manager for office products at Konica Minolta South Africa.
With the 552 and 652 series, Konica Minolta focused on the need for higher speed and volume, says Griffith. “The monochrome output speeds of 55 (bizhub 552) or 65 (bizhub 652) pages per minute position the new series perfectly to enhance existing fleets - either as a centralised unit that serves several workgroups, or for central reproduction departments (CRDs) with their need to perform colour scanning, such as archiving workflows.”
High-end finishing options allow for printouts in any desired format. “The 552 and 652 will perform simple stapling, or create up to 80-page booklets, with optional colour cover insertion. Additionally, with the capability to carry up to 6 650 sheets of paper, with a maximum grammage of 300gsm, and the ability to support a range of sizes (from A6 to A3, plus custom sizes), the new series can support the individual needs of different business units.”
Both devices are Energy Star and German Blue Angel certified. “Even with options such as a finisher installed, these products have very low energy consumption, which not only makes them environmentally sound, but also means lower running costs,” adds Griffith.
The series is manufactured with Konica Minolta's unique Simitri HD polymerised toner, a technology requiring a lower fusing point, which shortens warm-up time, and reduces energy consumption. Furthermore, the bizhub 552 and bizhub 652 are equipped with an induction fusing unit that serves higher fusing accuracy, reduces warm-up times from energy saving modes, and has a lower overall power consumption.
The 552 and 652 offer optional searchable PDF support, and come with multiple scan destinations as standard. The latest Emperon print technology provides PCL, PS, PDF and XPS support, and the 552 and 652's 250GB hard drives support box functionality and OpenAPI applications. Additionally, ID authentication, accounting and follow-me print mean the new series offers high-spec security features.
“For any organisation with a requirement for high-volume black and white print output, and a need for colour document scanning, the bizhub 552 and 652 series introduces the versatility, cost-savings and speed to offer an efficient and comprehensive solution,” says Griffith.
