Hitachi, Intel team up
Hitachi and Intel will partner in developing a solid-state drive for servers, workstations, and storage systems, states Information Week.
The partnership makes Intel the sole supplier of NAND flash memory technology for Hitachi's upcoming line of high-end solid-state drives for corporate use.
The drives, which will be available with serial attached SCSI and fibre channel interfaces, are scheduled for release in early 2010. Under the partnership, the two companies also will work together in research and development.
End-users form storage council
The End-User Council (EUC) of the Storage Networking Industry Association has formed the Storage Technology Online Community (StorTOC), says Business Wire.
StorTOC is the only online site both built and managed by end-users as a solely end-user collaborative community for networked storage.
StorTOC expands on the success of the EUC by providing new opportunities for end-user leadership, education, advocacy, collaboration and sharing of best practices.
3Par products named most exciting
Two 3Par InServ storage server models ranked number one in TheInfoPro's (Tip's) Most Exciting Product in Use study of Fortune 1000 and mid-sized enterprise storage end-users, reports CNN Money.
Tip's Most Exciting Vendor Products List is part of its Wave 11 Storage Study, which details technology adoption trends and timeframes, management techniques, and vendor performance data for the storage industry.
Robert Stevenson, MD of Storage Research for Tip, said: "3Par has nudged its way to the top in recent waves of the study and, with 3PAR's product innovation combined with the end-users interviewed citing their plans to remain loyal, it's not a surprise to see them holding their position there."
