Commerce One has announced that Hitachi Europe Ltd (HEL), a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd, has selected its strategic sourcing solutions to streamline the purchasing activities HEL manages for Hitachi's different business groups. HEL chose Commerce One over competitors due to the openness of its technology, which enables HEL to more easily address the complex global sourcing, supply chain integration and collaboration requirements of its distributed supply chain.
To improve the business workflow of its trading activities with customers, suppliers and logistic service providers, HEL's European Procurement and Sourcing Group (EPSG) required a solution that provided an open platform that could process business transactions across numerous, differing technologies and allow easier composition and deployment of new applications to extend HEL's offerings. It was also imperative that the solution provide an easily accessible repository for information, and the ability to quickly scale and fully leverage existing IT investments.
"With Commerce One, we expect to achieve new levels of collaboration by orchestrating critical sourcing and negotiation business processes between numerous systems and applications, both internally and across our distributed organisation. We expect this to result in faster time-to-market for products, faster production cycles, and more streamlined communication, negotiation and contract compliance," said Kunio Kobayashi, general manager of EPSG, HEL. "Commerce One's vision for open collaborative commerce based on industry standards matches our strategy for building long-term, efficient supplier relationships and reducing integration costs."
"HEL's selection of Commerce One over competitive solutions validates our sourcing solution as one of the most open and powerful solutions available," said Mark Hoffman, chairman and CEO of Commerce One. "Our use of industry standards to compose business processes and new applications allows customers to extend their supplier relationship management (SRM) solutions and gain new capabilities and purchasing efficiencies."
