The Y2K Central Coordinating Centre (CCC) in Hong Kong says it has received no incident reports from the territory. Sector centres for the food supply, transport, financial services, emergency, aviation and other industries also made no bug reports.
Deputy Secretary for Information Technology and Broadcasting Jessie Ting expressed her satisfaction at the transition. "However, we should not be complacent about the absence so far of any Y2K-induced reports," she says. "Over the next several days, the CCC will continue to monitor the status for each essential service sector and coordinate emergency response to any incidents which have cross-sector implications."
Government departments will be concluding checks of their mission critical systems over the weekend, and are expected to report any difficulties before the first normal working day in the new year to ensure that public service are not disrupted.
