How unified communications is driving smarter working

Johannesburg, 24 Feb 2012

Working practices are evolving as increasing numbers of people are spending more time than ever away from the office, either working from a home office, from client premises or managing work between travelling.

Work used to be a place, but now the relationship between work and worker has changed; it's not as much about where we are as what we do and how we do it. Mobility has been a primary driver of this change, in which smartphones, laptops and tablets are keeping us connected wherever we are.

“With this technological evolution and growing trend in dispersed working, companies need to be able to manage this and equip staff with the right tools, the right workspaces and the right training in order to work efficiently and effectively,” says Duncan Barnes, UC Manager at Plantronics.

Due to these new patterns of working, Plantronics has found that the amount of time spent on audio conference calls is increasing, resulting in today's business professionals spending more hours on the phone than ever before.

From remote workers to the conference room, communications are the critical bridge that connects people to each other and their work. By adopting advanced communications tools, such as headsets with sophisticated software, which support in-office, virtual and mobile work styles equally well, professionals can be more comfortable and make the most of their time, easily managing communications across any device and from whatever location or environment they find themselves in.

Plantronics is leading the evolution of smarter working through simple, integrated solutions based on superior audio and voice, and helps create a diversified workforce that is truly connected.
