Hewlett-Packard has announced that it has started shipping the HP 2500CM Professional Series colour printer, aimed at small to medium workgroups. The printer is part of a program aimed at accelerating the adoption of colour printing in an office environment.
The 2500CM comes with 20MB RAM as standard and supports a 12 000 pages-per-month duty cycle. It makes use of two paper trays, holding up to 400 sheets. It can reach 11 pages per minute for plain black text, which falls to 9ppm for colour text.
HP says the product will offer "out of the box" compatibility with Windows networks.
The printer uses modular ink-delivery, with four separate ink cartridges and four printheads, all of which can be replaced separately. Each component is monitored so that warnings can be displayed on the LCD screen if ink-levels drop below minimum.
It is only suitable for the Windows environment.
