Hewlett-Packard Company, the worldwide leader in large-format printer sales, has announced the HP DesignJet 3000CP series printers, two new extra-wide printing solutions offering print-service providers and graphics professionals with industry-leading, photo-quality prints up to 54 inches wide. Besides image quality, HP is focusing on productivity for its entire line of DesignJet printers. The new color printers, the HP DesignJet 3000CP and 3500CP printers, share the high-production features of the HP DesignJet 2000CP series printers they are based on, allowing customers to print at speeds of up to 92 square feet per hour. "The PSP and graphics markets are particularly concerned with productivity issues of speed and size," said Steve Midgley, HP marketing manager, printers and peripherals. "With these new HP DesignJet CP series printers, only HP can offer unrivaled photo-quality images as well as the size, speed and ink and media flexibility these customers need." "Within just a year, HP has altered the wide-format graphics printing market significantly with the HP DesignJet 2000CP series printers," added Midgley. "The market urgently needed the presence of a manufacturer like HP, which has the resources to further champion and develop the awareness of wide-format printing. This announcement is a logical extension of HP`s DesignJet product line, one that solidifies HP`s commitment and position in this market." New Printing Material for HP DesignJet CP Printers HP has also announced new printing material for the HP DesignJet CP series printers. HP Banner with Tyvek is waterfast and lightfast up to three months when used with the HP DesignJet CP Ink System UV. All HP printing materials for the HP DesignJet CP series printers are available in sizes up to 54 inches wide. In addition, the new HP Complementary Media Program enables manufacturers of specialty media to use HP test guidelines to qualify such selected media as canvas, fluorescent and metallic material as compatible with HP DesignJet CP printers. Choice of Two Solutions The HP DesignJet 3000CP solution comes ready to be integrated with an external Raster Image Processor (RIP). It has 12MB of RAM, upgradeable to 68MB, and can be used with HP-developed drivers for AutoCAD and Microsoft Windows. The HP DesignJet RIP program provides RIP vendors with extensive assistance and support for developing and testing RIP solutions. These solutions extend the capabilities of the standard HP DesignJet CP printers by increasing the printing systems` flexibility, productivity and print-management capabilities. The HP DesignJet 3500CP printer features a built-in hardware Adobe PostScript 3 RIP, 36MB of standard RAM (upgradeable to 68MB) and a 4.3GB hard disk, eliminating the need for an external CPU to process PostScript files. The integrated solution`s plug and play connectivity features PostScript drivers for Windows and Macintosh, as well as a pre-installed HP JetDirect card for easy connection to a network, PC or Macintosh computer. The HP DesignJet 3500CP printer also can be used with a third party RIP as needed. HP is the world`s leading supplier of hardcopy products that set the standard for technology, performance and reliability. HP`s market-leading products include LaserJet and DeskJet printers, HP DesignJet large-format printers, ScanJet scanners, OfficeJet all-in-one products and the PhotoSmart family of PC photography products.
