HP announces new HP Jornado 680 PC

HP Jornado family line now provides a Windows CE colour handheld to answer all mobile computing needs
Johannesburg, 08 Jun 1999

Hewlett-Packard Company has long been recognised as a world-wide leader in the handheld-computer market. HP entered the era of personal computing 25 years ago with the first handheld-scientific calculator and continues to develop new products that shape the landscape of handheld computing. Today, the handheld industry looks to HP to set new standards in handheld product innovation, design and engineering.

The HP Jornado 680 Handheld PC

HP, a leader in the handheld market, recognised the need for a handheld device that was small enough to carry anywhere, but powerful enough to handle high-volume e-mail and MicrosoftWord documents while away from the office. Thus came the HP Jornada 680 Handheld PC, displaying a brilliant, 256 colour 6.5-inch screen, and a type-comfortable keyboard - 76 percent of the size of a normal PC keyboard - with responsive desktop-style keys, and a sturdier docking solution, all in a smaller, thinner, lighter package.

At only 1.1 pounds and 7.4 inches x 3.7 inches x 1.3 inches, the HP Jornada 680 Handheld PC travels easily in a pocket or purse. Its 8-hour battery life and improved performance (133MHz), enable longer and faster access to information. Additionally, the HP Jornada 680 Handheld PC has pre-installed Windows CE, Handheld PC Professional Edition software and applications offering the familiarity of the Windows interface, so there is little training required.

Exclusive HP applications further enhance the productivity of mobile professionals. The exclusive HP quick pad gives users greater flexibility in capturing, storing and viewing information. In addition, the HP viewer gives an all-in-one screen overview of calendar, contacts and task information for fast access to information that professionals need while on the go. Critical information is kept safe with HP backup and HP timer password.
