HP announces new OfficeJet All-in-One with colour fax capability

All Colour Product Makes Communicating in Colour Easy And Convenient for Users

Hewlett-Packard, the worldwide market leader in All-in-Ones, printers and scanners, has announced the HP OfficeJet Series 700. It is the first HP All-in-One to offer colour faxing by incorporating the new industry colour fax standard.

The OfficeJet Series 700 allows users to send colour images, diagrams or designs, via fax, to other fax machines that meet the International Colour Fax Standard ITU-T30E. This industry-developed standard establishes the protocol for worldwide colour and black-and-white faxing, and represents a new trend in fax communication.

Colour fax is a logical extension in All-in-One functionality and enables the user to communicate everything in colour. It is PC assisted to leverage the processing power of the PC. At the same time, it incorporates a monochrome fax that works straight out of the box. It features a 20-page document feeder, up to 65 pages of fax memory and up to 100 speed dial numbers.

The OfficeJet Series 700 also provides scan to email, photo-quality printing, convenient colour copying and colour scanning. It is targeted at micro and small business users.

Steve Midgley, HP marketing manager, printers and peripherals commented: "Research shows that over 80% of customers are interested in colour fax capabilities. It takes small and home office productivity and professionalism to the next level, by offering an integrated colour communications solution throughout all functions.

"From now onwards every inkjet based All-in-One, launched by HP will have a colour fax solution, yet another example of HP`s continued technological leadership and continuous commitment to the All-in-One category."

"We have been working together with a number of other IT companies on a world-wide basis to pave the way for the introduction of full colour fax communication, enabling the open colour fax standard. These companies include France Telecom, German Telecom, Siemens, Kodak, Fuji Xerox, Hitachi, Ricoh, Intel and Toshiba."

The HP OfficeJet Series 700 compliments HP`s existing award winning All-in-One family and is expected to sell (add your local price)

It is designed to be extremely easy and convenient to use. The user does not need to worry about switching between functions. When a document is placed in the tray, the OfficeJet Series 700 software will prompt the user to choose one of four options - Fax, Scan, Copy or E-mail.

The OfficeJet Series 700 prints crisp, black text at up to 5 pages per minute (ppm) and brilliant colour images at up to 2ppm. It can also use a HP PhotoREt cartridge for excellent photo-quality printing. The product is designed to work with a variety of HP media.

There are three models within the OfficeJet Series 700 (Model 700, Model 710, and Model 725). Differences between the models consist of variations in fax and copy features (fax page memory, fax speed dials, number of multiple copies, and amount of copy reduction and enlargement). Product availability in each country will depend on country and channel needs.

The OfficeJet Series 700 is compatible with Microsoft Windows 95, 98 and now Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. It is covered by a one-year warranty that includes HP`s Customer Care support. Customers can upgrade the warranty with HP SupportPack.

The OfficeJet Series 700 is the newest member of HP`s family of market leading All-in-One products. Used by home and business users, the family includes the OfficeJet 590, OfficeJet 635, LaserJet 1100A, LaserJet 3100, OfficeJet 1170C and OfficeJet 1175C.
