HP bets big on converged architecture
DatacenterDynamics notes.
HP is pushing its 3PAR utility storage as the model for its Converged Infrastructure, which promotes using a combination of HP networking, storage and servers as the most efficient way of handling infrastructure in the data centre.
HP Storage Division EMEA VP Chris Johnson says the HP Get Virtual Guarantee Program highlights the completion of HP's end-to-end link from storage to the server.
3PAR Storage touts high storage-performance levels for the unpredictable workloads typically generated in virtual server environments, as well as in public, private and hybrid cloud environments, The Var Guy says.
It is integrated with VMware vStorage technologies and combined with built-in features including automatic load balancing, wide striping and a Mesh-Active clustered architecture, all designed to unblock bottlenecks in virtualised data centres.
“We needed to significantly boost capacity without adding to the physical or administrative footprint of our virtual server environment,” Market Wire quotes Gary Collins, founder and director at Intercept, a hosting service provider, as saying.
“HP 3PAR Storage was the only system that allowed us to support twice as many virtual machines on each of our physical servers while meeting all of our data centre upgrade goals."
