HP Business Inkjet printer 2600/dn from Tarsus - it means business

Johannesburg, 22 Mar 2002

Following the success of the HP Inkjet 2500 series colour printer, Tarsus Technologies, the value-add distribution arm of JSE-listed MB Technologies, has introduced the HP Business Inkjet 2600 printer series to the local market.

The printers in the HP Inkjet 2500 series took the market by storm and the HP Inkjet 2600 series is an upgraded replacement to this popular range, but falls within the same price range.

"We anticipate this product having a huge impact on the market. It has taken over from the 2500 as the business inkjet flagship product with separate print heads and cartridges," says Traci Maynard, HP peripherals product manager at Tarsus.

Improved print quality is realised by virtue of the PhotoRet III and DPI specs have been increased from 600 x 600 to 1 200 x 600.

According to Maynard: "The HP Inkjet 2600 printers also make use of new fade-resistant inks, further improving the quality of print."

The PhotoRet III advanced colour layering technology allows the HP Inkjet 2600 to produce more colours and colour levels.

Performance improvements across the colour options are 15 pages per minute (ppm) for black text (up from 11); 11ppm for mixed text and colour graphics (up from 9); and 6ppm for full-colour pages (up from 2.5).*

The 2600 series features a variety of paper-handing facilities, including a removable cassette type input tray and a tray lock mechanism. Envelopes as well as various paper sizes are also supported.

Maynard continues: "Connectivity has been extended and the printers in the 2600 series range also have wider OS compatibility than their predecessors."

"All the benefits and functionality of the 2500 series, only better," concludes Maynard.
