HP commercial print sales down

HP's Imaging and Printing Group has reported a 15% drop in sales, contributing to a 8% revenue decrease in its fourth quarter results, says PrintWeek.

Commercial printing equipment sales fell 38% while consumer printers dropped by 14%.

Mark Hurd, chairman and chief executive, said: "HP's solid performance in services drove record profit and the accelerated pace in signings creates strong momentum going into 2010.”

Kodak, TweetPhoto partnership

Kodak is keen on utilising social media to connect with current and potential customers, boasting a presence on such sites as Facebook, YouTube and Flickr, reports The Washington Post.

First launched in April 2009, TweetPhoto has been building up its service with multiple features that have worked out well for the start-up.

TweetPhoto says it has struck a partnership agreement with Kodak, under which the two companies intend to collaborate on initiatives focused on real-time photography and photo sharing on the Web.

Xerox intros solid ink printer

Xerox released the first high-speed solid ink multifunction printer in Abu Dhabi, reports AMEInfo.

The Xerox ColorQube 9200 Series multifunction printer is said to cut the cost of colour pages by as much as 62% compared to colour lasers and vastly reduces the environmental impact of office printing.

"The ColorQube 9200 Series represents printing technology that is very timely for today's office," said Ang`ele Boyd, group vice-president, IDC. "Going green and saving money while adding colour as needed is what customers are looking for."
