HP counters iPad with desktop
PC maker, Hewlett-Packard (HP), unveiled a redesigned touchscreen desktop that can tilt back, to discourage business customers from switching to Apple's iPad and other tablet computers, reveals Stuff.co.nz.
The TouchSmart 9300 Elite, which houses all of its electronics behind a 23-inch screen, can recline to a 60-degree angle, says Randall Martin, a chief design strategist at Palo Alto, California-based HP.
The desktop computer can become almost flush with the tabletop, making it easier for people to gather around and engage with the touch-sensitive screen.
Intel recall hurts businesses
Industry sources have said it looks like Q1 2011 won't be a great month for notebook discrete graphics, according to Fudzilla.
Since Intel began its massive chipset recall, notebook manufacturers have put all orders on hold. This affects most of Nvidia and ATI graphics parts that were supposed to accommodate Sandy Bridge notebooks and offer it better graphics.
Some notebook manufacturers might decide to continue shipping its notebooks and try to convince users that their units are not affected, but this is a long shot.
Dell kills off Adamo
The love-fest is officially over between Dell and Adamo, its brand that means 'to fall in love with' in Latin, notes PC World.
The Adamo has been removed from Dell's main Web site and banished to the refurbished pages (for as long as there's inventory left).
Evidence of its demise has been mounting ever since Dell slashed prices by the hundreds of dollars (the lowest of which was $799) and discontinued the Adamo XPS, the follow-up to the Adamo.
