For companies which rely on enterprise IT and Internet data centres for their business but face the challenge of making them manageable and flexible, HP South Africa has revealed details of new OpenView software and service solutions.
Dubbed Internet business or `I-business` solutions, the HP OpenView offerings tackle the problems that many companies face when developing and delivering Internet services - and managing the infrastructure that supports those services.
"To be a successful Internet business you have to rapidly deploy new services which attract new customers while making sure your existing customers are satisfied," says Hannes Lategan, the software specialist at HP South Africa.
Achieving this balance is a mix of critical factors, one of the most important of which involves maximising IT resources for the highest operational efficiency.
"We`ve therefore developed an I-business solution suite that helps IT and Internet data centre managers establish and enforce policies which optimise services," explains Lategan.
"It gives them the ability to monitor and measure service availability and performance; rapidly diagnose and resolve availability and performance issues; as well as report results further up the management chain of command."
The suite itself comprises new and existing HP OpenView software, services and support solutions, all of which are aimed at the heterogeneous IT environments which characterise I-business ecosystems.
Stalwart OpenView modules like Network Node Manager and Service Desk are included; new solutions such as Smart Plug-Ins for Bluestone, Omniback II 4.0 and advanced security modules are also there.
"The solution`s management capabilities enable creation and control of policies that ensure services are securely available and are performing well," notes Lategan.
"It all comes down to the fact that Internet businesses cannot afford to be sluggish about delivering new services or customer satisfaction.
"We expect OpenView to give them powerful management tools that not only make their business more agile and competitive, but fundamentally more focused, robust and secure. They should now be able to do more with less... and still deliver an optimal customer experience."
