HP joins RIP vendors to deliver up to 60% Higher Printing Speeds
Hewlett-Packard Company, the worldwide leader in large-format printer sales, has announced that it is working with major RIP (Raster Image Processor) vendors to develop increased productivity RIP solutions for HP DesignJet CP Series customers. These solutions result in higher print speeds and thus increased productivity for HP large-format printer customers.
Print-for-Pay businesses and other graphics customers using the HP DesignJet CP Series printers will be able to print up to 60 percent faster when using Varware, wide mask RIPs. [See breakthrough speeds for HP DesignJet 3000CP Series printers] These higher speeds are achieved while maintaining the photographic-quality output for which the HP DesignJet CP Series printers are renowned.
"HP and RIP vendors are working closely together to provide optimum performance for those of our customers who have a need for faster printing," said Wim Heuninck, HP marketing manager, printers & peripherals. "With this development, HP is responding to this need and once again extending the printing options available to its HP DesignJet CP Series customers, enabling them to boost productivity and expand their businesses."
A number of vendors have developed HP-qualified, increased productivity RIPs for the HP DesignJet CP Series printers. These vendors include Amiable Technologies Inc. (PhotoPRINT RIP), Onyx Graphics (PosterShop), Image Technologies (WISP PS) and DCS (PosterJet). In each case, the vendors have tested their Varware, wide mask RIPs in conjunction with the HP DesignJet CP Series printers, following HP guidelines. HP audited the results.
Productivity-tuned RIPs benefit from the new wide print mask (240 x 256 pixel) capability of the HP DesignJet CP Series printers. HP is supporting vendors in developing and testing their Varware RIP solutions tuned for optimum performance on HP DesignJet CP printers. A list of the qualified performance-optimized RIPs is posted on the HP DesignJet RIP Solutions Web site at http://www.hp.com/go/designjet.
HP DesignJet CP Series printers offer graphics customers more than just high speeds and photo-quality images. They also provide a cost-effective printing solution with efficient ink usage and lower media costs, all combining to enhance the overall productivity of the printer.
Through the HP DesignJet Complementary Media Program, HP DesignJet CP Series customers benefit from more media offerings, increasing their choice of media and further enhancing the flexibility of the printers.
