HP expands storage range

London, 18 May 2005

The adaptive enterprise, where business is merged with IT infrastructure, is closer to being met, says HP, which expanded its storage range in London yesterday.

HP unveiled several products and services designed to address customers` storage challenges and to extend the company`s share of the global storage market. The International Corporation estimates the market to be worth over $63 billion.

The launch coincided with news from San Francisco that HP had posted a 9% rise in quarterly profit, with increases in revenue from HP`s enterprise and storage business and its services business.

"HP has expanded and enhanced its StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array family with new models and capabilities that increase our ability to deliver significant time, space and cost savings over traditional storage arrays," said HP StorageWorks VP Neal Clapper.

"The arrays are designed for centres where there is a critical need for improved storage utilisation and scalability, and to meet application-specific demands for transaction I/O performance for mid-range customers.

"The fast recovery capabilities help companies protect revenue, maintain customer satisfaction, gain resource efficiencies and avoid opportunity costs," says Clapper.

Among the new products are:

* HP StorageWorks Enterprise File Services Clustered Gateway.
* HP StorageWorks EFS WAN Accelerator.
* HP StorageWorks 6000 Virtual Library System.
* HP StorageWorks 4000, 6000 and 8000 Enterprise Virtual Arrays.
* HP StorageWorks Enterprise Modular Library E-series.
* Information Lifecycle Management services.
* Fast recovery solutions.
