HP First in Industry to Deliver Support for All-in-one Devices with HP JetDirect 170X Print Server
Hewlett-Packard Company has introduced the HP JetDirect 170X print server, which provides big-business benefits for smaller businesses: a simple, affordable network connectivity solution for sharing printers and HP peripherals.
The new print server is the first print server to support HP all-in-one devices and expands HP`s industry-leading family of network peripheral solutions.
Through an embedded Web server, the HP JetDirect solution provides seamless network scanning capabilities, including basic scanning, previewing and page cropping. The HP JetDirect 170X is compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 1170C all-in-one, which provides colour printing, scanning and copying.

Superior Connectivity
The HP JetDirect 170X print server connects printers directly to a network instead of through a network file server or a PC, providing faster printing, increased reliability and the ability to put peripherals where they are needed most - close to end users. This direct-connect model enhances office productivity by allowing users to process print jobs up to six times faster than through PC or file-server connections.
Ease of Use
The HP JetDirect 170X features an embedded Web server that allows customers to easily access status information on printers and specific networked HP all-in-one products, via a standard Web-browser interface. Access to diagnostic information eliminates the need for a separate management application and enables end users to do minor trouble-shooting, thus drastically reducing the time required to support network peripheral solutions.
Additionally, the HP JetDirect 170X print server installs in just minutes using HP JetAdmin software or the HP Network Printer Installer, a one-step printer installation tool for Windows NT 4.0 environments that automatically creates the required print-path components.

The new print server provides the industry`s most extensive peripheral support and, in addition, offers small businesses broad network OS support, including support for Windows 9x; Windows NT; LANtastic; Novell NetWare; and, now, TCP/IP, a common protocol.
The HP JetDirect 170X print server is the next-generation external print server following the award-winning HP JetDirect 150X print server. The unit comes with a one-year, return-to-HP limited warranty. Telephone technical support is available free of charge for the life of the product.
