HP guarantees capacity reduction

HP recently announced the HP Get Thin Guarantee Program (1), which enables clients to reduce storage capacity requirements by 50% or more when they replace legacy equipment with HP 3PAR Utility Storage.

Part of the HP Converged Infrastructure portfolio, HP 3PAR Storage Systems offer a silicon-based thin processing mechanism as part of the system's highly specialised hardware design. When combined with HP 3PAR Thin Conversion Software, this mechanism drives the rapid “thinning” of storage volumes by identifying and removing unused pockets of disk capacity.

As a result, traditional storage volumes are reduced by 50% or more and converted into thin provisioned volumes on the HP 3PAR array. This enables clients to reduce storage footprint and power consumption while also cutting storage administration time by as much as 90% (2).

As part of the guarantee, any participants in the programme, who do not realise 50% or more reduction in storage capacity requirements, will receive additional disk capacity and related software, as well as support related to the additional disk capacity and software from HP equal to the difference. The HP Get Thin Guarantee Program is available to clients globally through HP or HP-authorised channel partners. Under the terms of the program, qualifying participants may purchase any model of HP 3PAR Storage System with HP 3PAR Thin Conversion and HP 3PAR Thin Provisioning Software.
